Man shoots at armadillo, but bullet hits mother-in-law

Lee Co, Georgia -- A Georgia man will likely find himself in some hot water with his wife -- if not the law -- for allegedly accidentally shooting his mother-in-law while aiming for an armadillo, WALB 10 reports.

According to WALB, 54-year-old Larry McElory was outside when he fired his 9mm pistol at an armadillo. The bullet did kill the animal, but also ricocheted off it, hitting a fence, going through the back door of his mother-in-law's mobile home, going through a recliner and hitting her in the back.

Carol Johnson, 74, was taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

McElroy was about 100 yards from his mother-in-law's house when he fired the gun.

It is unknown if the man will face any legal repercussions from the shooting.
