Police: Man threw gasoline on girlfriend, set her on fire



SEATTLE -- A woman was transported to the hospital Sunday evening after her boyfriend set her on fire, officials said.

Seattle police and firefighters responded to the call shortly after 9:00 p.m. at an apartment complex in the 7400 block of Rainier Avenue South in Seattle.

Witnesses said the man confronted his girlfriend before dousing her with gasoline and lighting her on fire.  Patricia Workenh tells Q13FOX she was standing so close to the victim that at one point she was on fire too.

According to Seattle Police, the victim is suffering from burns on 20 percent of her body but is expected to survive.

The search continues for the woman's boyfriend. Police said they are waiting to speak to the woman so she can identify the boyfriend.

Fire officials initially said the woman was taken to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition.
