Puyallup police: Burglars ransack homes, empty teenager’s bank account

PUYALLUP – Detectives are on the hunt for burglary suspects they believe hit at least two homes in the past couple of weeks.

Police just released surveillance video of the getaway car, which is believed to be connected to both cases.

One of the victims said their home was ransacked while they were away at church.

“I’m just kind of mad that they took the stuff and my kids are scared,” said victim Sheri Critchfield. “They don’t’ want to stay home by themselves."

Critchfield thinks the crooks picked her house after first burglarizing her husband’s truck.

“We know the got it from the registration,” she said. “They saw the garage door opener, and they took that with the registration.”

Detectives are looking for a red Ford SUV seen driving laps around Critchfield's neighborhood shortly before the burglary.

“They’re seeing who’s home, they’re looking at vehicles,” said Puyallup police detective Michael Lusk. “They’re looking for a house that might not be occupied at the time.”

Police think the same two-man crew also busted into another home and stole a teenager’s debit card.

Surveillance cameras caught a man on video after police said he used the card to withdraw all of the teen’s money.

Police said the suspects are likely tied to other burglaries around the South Sound.
