Man loses leg when he falls from train in Eastern Washington

SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — A 39-year-old man who fell off of a train had his leg severed when he was struck by the same train.

The accident happened on Sunday morning in the city of Spokane Valley.

The man, whose name was not released, told Spokane County sheriff's deputies he had hopped a train in Montana, then fell off it in Spokane Valley.

The Spokesman-Review says the sheriff's office reports the man is listed in serious condition at a local hospital.
