29-year-old man held in connection with female taxi driver's killing

MOUNT VERNON, Wash. (AP) — A 29-year-old Puyallup man is being held on $1 million bail as a Skagit County judge granted prosecutors more time to file formal charges in the shooting death of a female taxi driver.

The Skagit Valley Herald reports that Solomona Luteru is in Skagit County Jail on investigation of second-degree murder and first-degree robbery.

A judge allowed prosecutors to keep him in custody for up to 30 days before filing formal criminal charges.

Mount Vernon police say 46-year-old Lisa Eason, of Anacortes, was found dead inside her taxi van in downtown Mount Vernon on March 30. Witnesses told police they heard gunfire and saw a man running from the area.

Luteru was arrested Tuesday in the Tacoma suburb of Lakewood, 100 miles south of Mount Vernon.
