SEATTLE -- A 55-year-old woman hit by an alleged DUI driver while walking in White Center is not dead as earlier reported, the King County Sheriff's Office said Friday.

Sergeant B.J. Myers of of the King County Sheriff's Office said the 55-year-old woman is in critical condition at Harborview Medical Center.

Myers had earlier reported that the woman had died of her injuries. The woman was walking around 4:40 p.m. near the intersection of SW 102nd Street and 16th Avenue SW when she was struck by a 50-year-old female driver from Burien, sheriff's deputies said.

"I just learned that I was misinformed," Myers said.

Sheriff's deputies arrested the driver on suspicion of DUI. She was booked into King County Jail on suspicion of vehicular assault.
