No arrests made in slayings of woman, toddler in Kitsap County

BREMERTON, Wash. -- A spokesman for the Kitsap County sheriff's office says no arrests have been made following a weekend shooting that left a woman and her roommate's toddler dead.

Sgt. Ken Dickinson said in a statement Monday that detectives are exploring leads but do not have a suspect yet.

Heather Kelso and 2-year-old Kaden Lum were shot in their home at a mobile home park in Bremerton early Saturday.

The 29-year-old woman worked at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and had lived at the home for three years.

Police say the child's mother was also with him at the time and tried to protect the boy. The mother was not harmed. The two had lived at the home with Kelso for three weeks.

A third shooting victim underwent surgery at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. He was shot as he ran back to his home nearby.
