EVERETT, Wash. – A man was killed Sunday morning after his car crashed into a pole on the 41st Street overpass in Everett.

The crash happened around 9:40 a.m. According to Everett Police spokesperson Aaron Snell, the car came off of the ramp from southbound I-5 onto 41st Street when it went through the intersection, went over a raised median, hit a sign, the went back across 41st and hit the cement base of a crosswalk pole. He was dead by time medics and police arrived.

The driver was the only person in the car when the crash happened, and no other vehicles were involved.

Multiple lanes of the overpass were closed as the crash was being investigated. The on-ramp from 41st onto southbound I-5 was also closed, as the crash happened near that intersection. All lanes were back open by noon.

Snell said that speed was the primary factor in the crash. The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the name of the driver, and the exact cause of death, later this week.

I am so sorry to this mans family. I was the first one on the scene. He did this right in front of me. My medical training kick in but there was nothing I could do for him but hold his hand until paramedics were on the scene.

I want to thank the other 3 people that stopped to help and stayed on scene to give statements and talke to the detectives. It was 2 guys and 1 female. Also thank u to the guy that I handed my phone to so he could finish talking to 911 so I could be with the driver.

I would think that the cause of death would be blunt force trauma to the body due to their speeding car coming to a sudden abrupt stop. But just my opinion

As far as I know they haven’t released is name. I stopped at the police station yesterday and dropped of a card for his family. If this was your brother I’m very sorry for your loss. I did everything I could do to help him.

Isn’t there someone u could call? If this is your brother wouldn’t other family members call you? Have u tried calling the Everett police department? I would like to know his name and also what made himdriver like he was. He almost took me out with him. It was horrific. I’m not going to to go into details about it. This person looked like he had really thin hair or almost bald. Do u live around here?
