Washington auditor says he's cooperating with investigation

OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — Washington state auditor Troy Kelley says he has fully cooperated with federal officials on questions related to financial activities at a business he previously owned, but said all of his actions over the years have been "lawful and appropriate."

Kelley returned to his Olympia office on Monday following a week where his home was raided by federal agents and his office turned over records that were subpoenaed by the Justice Department relating to a current employee who was also a former business associate.

He issued a written statement through his spokesman, who said said Kelley had no plans to appear publicly or answer media questions for the time being.

Information continues to come out about the wide net the federal government has cast, ranging from Kelley's expenses from his time as a lawmaker to seeking information from the state Department of Revenue.
