Suspect arrested after man, 25, stabbed to death near Bellingham

WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. -- A 45-year-old man was booked into jail after another man was stabbed to death early Sunday near Bellingham.

According to the Whatcom County Sheriff's Office, police were called to the 300 block of Pacific Highway around 6:45 a.m. for reports of a man who had been stabbed. When medics arrived, the victim was already dead.

Investigators said they believe two men had an altercation at a party early Sunday morning.

Detectives said they took a man into custody for questioning and later arrested him for investigation of 2nd degree murder. He has not yet been charged.

Officials identified the victim as 25-year-old Jeremy McClellan of Skagit County.

Detectives are conducting further interviews and continuing to process the crime scene.
