Clark County jail inmate dies after being restrained

VANCOUVER, Wash. (AP) — Authorities say an inmate at the Clark County Jail has died - two days after he suffered a medical emergency while being restrained.

The Clark County Sheriff's office says Mycheal J. Lynch died Sunday. The Columbian of Vancouver reports police arrested Lynch Friday on suspicion of driving under the influence of intoxicants, reckless driving and hit-and-run of an unattended vehicle.

Lynch was placed in the medical unit at the jail. Deputies later determined Lynch should be moved to another area. The sheriff's office says Lynch did not cooperate with the attempt to move him and suffered a medical emergency after being restrained.

Vancouver police are investigating the incident and an autopsy is being conducted. How Lynch was restrained is part of an ongoing investigation.
