4 injured in serious 3-car crash; force of impact sent debris onto roof of house

SEATTLE -- A serious three-car crash sent four people to the hospital Monday night and completely blocked Rainier Avenue South at 84th Avenue for hours.

When firefighters from the Renton Fire Department and King County Fire District 20 arrived, they found two of the vehicles sitting next to each other and another approximately 200 feet away, the Kent Fire Department said.

All three cars had suffered serious damage, with one of the vehicles losing its entire front end and the engine sitting about 10 feet from the car, the Kent Fire Department said.

The force of the impact sent debris in all directions and even onto the roof of a nearby home, Kent Fire said.

Two of the people in the cars were seriously injured; the other two had non-life-threatening injuries. All were adults.

The King County Sheriff’s Office is conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the crash.
