Remembrance event for Oso landslide to close highway

OSO, Wash. (AP) — State Route 530 will be closed to traffic Sunday morning for a remembrance event for the deadly Oso landslide.

The state Department of Transportation says drivers will be detoured via State Route 20 from 9 a.m. to noon. Westbound traffic will be stopped 10 miles west of Darrington and eastbound traffic will be stopped 14 miles east of Arlington.

A massive landslide on March 22, 2014, killed 43 people and destroyed dozens of homes in the tiny community.
