Oregon woman driving herself to hospital crashes into tree, later dies
LEBANON, Ore. — Police said a woman was having medical problems while driving herself to the hospital Tuesday evening when she crashed into a telephone pole and tree.
The crash happened around 7:45 p.m. at the intersection of East Oak Street and South Williams Street.
Police said Florence Townsend, 75, was driving north on South Williams when she veered west and struck the telephone pole and tree.
Paramedics transported Townsend to the hospital, where she died shortly after arriving.
Police said the crash was a result of a medical issue Townsend was having and she was not wearing her seat belt at the time.
