Carjacker stole car with children inside; kids safe, police looking for suspect

LACEY -- Police are looking for an alleged carjacker who stole a car with young children inside before ditching the car and the kids a short time later.

North Thurston Public Schools in Lacey tweeted about the carjacking around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday. School officials said the crime occurred near Paramount Christian Academy PreSchool and Komachin Middle School in the 3600 block of College Street SE.

The vehicle was recovered a short time later with the children safely inside a few blocks away.



The school district said the suspect fled on foot, and Lacey police are looking for him with a police K9. Schools are not on lockdown at the moment, officials said.

The suspect was described as a white male, 5'10" tall in his late-20s to mid-30s. He has short brown hair with dark clothes and no jacket.
