General suspended for treatment of staff won't return to post at JBLM

JOINT BASE LEWIS-MCCHORD, Wash. (AP) — The Army says a suspended Army medical commander will not be reinstated to his former post at Joint Base Lewis-McChord after an investigation faulted his treatment of staff.

The News Tribune says Brig. Gen. John Cho will not return to lead the Western Regional Medical Command, which is in charge of Army hospitals in 20 western states. He'll be reassigned to the staff of the Office of the Army Surgeon General.

Cho, a one-star general and surgeon, was suspended in September pending an investigation into his leadership.

Army spokeswoman Lt. Col. Alayne Conway says the investigation found he failed to treat subordinates with respect. It did not involve Cho's quality of medical care.

Maj. Gen. Thomas Tempel Jr. will lead the medical command based at JBLM in Washington state.
