Disturbing details released in teen's plot to kidnap, kill 10-year-old girl

O'FALLON, Mo. -- Police have released additional details in the case of a 17-year-old boy who planned to kidnap and kill a 10-year-old Missouri girl.

John Classen has been charged with kidnapping, burglary and abuse of a child. His bond is set at $1.5 million.

Classen apparently planned to kidnap the girl, sexually assault her, smother her and take photos of her body before leaving town, police told KTVI.

Authorities discovered  details of the suspect's plot on his cell phone.

Police said the suspect knew the victim through her brother.

Shortly after midnight on Thursday, Classen entered the victim's home through a window he left unlocked a few days earlier while visiting the girl's brother, according to police.

Classen waited in the basement for nearly four hours before grabbing the girl from a couch where she was sleeping. He struggled with the 10-year-old and dragged her to his nearby car.

A short time later, the girl's family realized she was gone and called 911. The suspect was caught at a police checkpoint a short time later.

The victim injured her ankle during the kidnapping. She has a few bruises and scratches on her body, but police said she was not seriously hurt.
