WATCH: 'Devastating' trailer released for new Kurt Cobain documentary

LOS ANGELES -- A trailer for a new, authorized documentary about Aberdeen native and grunge legend Kurt Cobain is turning heads this morning on the Internet.

The two-and-a-half minute trailer for the documentary, Montage of Heck, was released late Wednesday. And though the film won't be released until May 4 on HBO, the the trailer is making noise and grabbing attention.

The sneak peak shows never-before-seen home movies, family photos and behind-the-scene shots with Cobain and his family. The film will feature the film of Cobain as a young child, and take the viewer all the way until his death.

Rolling Stone called the trailer "devastating."

"The sneak peak also shows how Montage of Heck will seamlessly integrate animation into the story of the Nirvana frontman," Rolling Stone reported.
