MUST WATCH: Interested sellers must know about the 'Starbucks effect'

SEATTLE -- If you’re thinking of buying or selling your home, there’s a “magic window” that you should know about!

Zillow Chief Economist Stan Humphries co-authored the New York Times bestselling book “Zillow Talk: The New Rules of Real Estate” (with Zillow CEO Spencer Rascoff).

He joined us to talk about how sellers who list in the ‘magic window’ of mid-March to mid-April can get 2.8% more than the average listing, and sell 16% faster.

In addition, there is a “Starbucks effect”: homes within a quarter of a mile of a Starbucks in the Seattle metro area appreciated more than all others in the area by 15.6 percentage points between 1997 and 2013.

Humphries has some tips for buyers, too! Watch our interview for more! “Zillow Talk” is available online and in most bookstores.
