Guilty plea in Port Angeles kidnapping, killing
PORT ANGELES, Wash. (AP) — A Port Angeles man has pleaded guilty to kidnapping his ex-girlfriend and killing her boyfriend in Port Angeles.
Gary Borneman pleaded guilty Wednesday in Clallam County Superior Court to charges of first-degree murder and kidnapping. He'll be sentenced April 1.
KNOP-AM in Port Angeles says prosecutors dropped other charges in the plea deal.
Police say 40-year-old Borneman kidnapped Rebecca Messinger on Oct. 7. He took her to the home she shared with 40-year-old Jerry Howell, tied her to a vehicle and went into the home where he fatally shot Howell.
Messinger managed to escape and called police while hiding in the nearby bushes.
