State Patrol: Woman dies in fiery crash near the Snohomish-Skagit county line

ROCKPORT, Wash. (AP) — The Washington State Patrol says a woman has died in a fiery crash about 10 miles south of Rockport, near the Skagit-Snohomish county line.

Trooper Mark Francis said two passers-by tried to pull the driver from the pickup truck Monday afternoon after it ran off State Route 530 and landed on its top but they were unable to open the door.

He says they attached a chain to the door to pull it off but the truck burst into flames before they could get the driver out.

Francis says the driver was not immediately identified.
