Man pleads guilty to assaulting disabled adult in Yelm, gets 2 1/2 years in prison

OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — A 52-year-old man accused of raping a disabled adult in Yelm has pleaded guilty to lesser charges of assault and felony harassment.

The Olympian newspaper says (http://is.gd/o4eFSp ) Thomas Roger Case was also sentenced to 30 months in prison at his hearing in Thurston County Superior Court on Monday.

Prosecutors said the plea agreement prevents the 37-year-old developmentally delayed man from having to testify at trial.

Court documents show the victim's mother told Yelm police in December 2013 that Case had raped and threatened her son.

Case was initially been charged with second-degree rape and felony harassment.
