Long-term lane closures for SR 99 postponed

SEATTLE -- Long-term lane closures on State Route 99 originally scheduled to begin Wednesday are postponed for the time being, the state said.

The long-term closuresare needed to install several large sign foundations along the SR 99 North Access project, state officials said. It will be rescheduled at a later date to minimize travel impacts.

According to the Seattle Times, the project is slated to last 12 weeks and will close the Aurora bus lanes. State officials told the Seattle Times it is not known when the sign work will be rescheduled.

SR 99 will be closed Monday night to straighten the curve in the highway near Mercer Street. The closure will begin at 10 p.m. and last until 6 a.m. Tuesday between the Battery Street Tunnel and Valley Street.
