M's Opening Day tickets go fast; few single seats remain

SEATTLE – Tickets went fast on Saturday morning, and that means Opening Day for the Seattle Mariners is almost sold out.

Only scattered single tickets remain for the April 6 opener at Safeco Field against the Los Angeles Angels. It took around 30 minutes for almost all of the Opening Day tickets to get sold. Some tickets for the opener are also available for anyone getting season tickets, a 20-game plan or a 10-game plan.

Saturday was the first day that single-game tickets for Mariners' home schedule were available for purchase. A long line formed outside of Safeco Field, as fans waited so they could grab tickets as soon as the ticket windows opened at 10 a.m.

The M's also announced two new special event nights for the home schedule. A showing of The Lego Movie will take place after the April 26 game against the Minnesota Twins. It's the first time the team has had a post-game movie at Safeco Field.

June 19 should be one to remember, and not because the M's are playing Houston. That will be "Star Wars Night", with characters from the various movies on hand, fans being encouraged to dress in their Jedi (or Empire) best, and a post-game Star Wars-themed fireworks show.

Tickets can be purchased through the Mariners' website or by calling 206-346-4001.
