Longview woman sentenced to 2 years for running over boyfriend

LONGVIEW, Wash. (AP) — An 18-year-old Longview woman must spend the next two years in prison for running over her 19-year-old boyfriend in December.

The Daily News of Longview reports that Mikayla Mae Smith pleaded guilty on Thursday to two charges of domestic violence and vehicular assault while under the influence.

Longview police arrested Smith after her then-boyfriend, James Rountree, told police she intentionally targeted him with her car.

Rountree said he was a passenger in Smith's car but got out at a red light after Smith punched him in the face. Rountree said Smith looped around and ran him over. He was taken St. John Medical Center, where he stayed for three days before being released.

Smith also was sentenced to 18 months community custody and must pay $1,250 in restitution.
