Sound Transit OKs plan for cell service in underground tunnels, stations
SEATTLE – Sound Transit is moving forward with a plan to allow riders to get cell service in underground tunnels and stations.
The Sound Transit Board approved a contract with a Mobilitie Investments III to install and run the infrastructure to make this possible.
Sound Transit says the company has already done a test of the technology through the Beacon Hill tunnel to show it can work.
If all goes as planned service should be available by the middle of 2016.
