Police: Woman ‘slammed her body' into 71-year-old after fight over handicap parking spot outside Walmart

MILWAUKEE, Wisconsin -- A 71-year-old woman was rushed to the hospital after a much younger woman allegedly attacked her over the use of a handicapped parking spot.

Kezia Perkins, 32, was charged Wednesday with aggravated battery reported WITI-TV.

According to a criminal complaint Perkins and the elderly woman were both aiming for the same handicapped parking spot outside a Milwaukee Wisconsin area WalMart one day in early February.

Investigators said Perkins wasn’t able to maneuver her car into the spot, so the older woman was able to ease into the spot.

That’s when surveillance video reveals Perkins approaching the other woman’s car. Witnesses reportedly told police Perkins screamed at the elderly woman through the window. The older woman told investigators she was afraid and waited until Perkins walked away to exit her car.

According to the criminal complaint as the older woman got out of her car Perkins ran back up to her and ‘slammed her body into her, knocking (the victim) to the pavement.’

Police said the elderly woman was knocked to the ground where she suffered a broken femur and a hip injury which required surgery.

Initial reports were that both women had handicapped parking placards in their cars. But police later said Perkins’s placard wasn’t valid and she was driving with a suspended license.

Perkins lawyer issued a statement to WITI-TV maintaining her innocence.

“This was an unfortunate accident that came about after a misunderstanding between two individuals,” wrote the attorney.  “Ms. Perkins is, herself, disabled, however the fact that her disability is not immediately noticeable led to confusion between the two women.”
