Brazen thief yanks Lynnwood woman out of her Mercedes in her own driveway, steals car

LYNNWOOD, Wash. – There were some terrifying moments Wednesday morning as a carjacker pulled a woman out of her car and tossed her to the ground. Police need your help to find out who did it.

It happened on 17th Avenue West around 9:30 a.m.

The victim wasn’t seriously hurt during the carjacking, but it happened right out in the open in her own driveway.

The victim said she was sitting inside her car waiting for her dog to use the bathroom in the yard when all of the sudden she was carjacked.

The victim didn’t want to talk on camera but her daughter recounts the moments that the attacker violated her mom.

“(Someone) knocked on the window but he just opened the door, pulled her out,” said Sinae Cheh. “For a split-second she thought, do I protect my dog or do I protect my car?”

The suspect took off with the car. Police are calling the crime random and out of the ordinary.

Detectives searched for hours looking for her 1997 white Mercedes Benz, but came up empty-handed.

Neighbors were shocked to hear something so violent happened so close to home.

“If somebody comes up like that, that’s kind of scary,” said Doris Nieman.

“Obviously anybody would like to get a hold of him and ring his neck,” said Marylee Edwards.

The victim’s daughter is thankful her mother is doing OK, and she’s surprised the attacker didn’t get hurt during the carjacking.

“I’m more surprised that the guy who tried to take the car didn’t run away screaming,” said Cheh.

Police are searching for a white male in his late 20s or early 30s, about 5-foot-5. He was last seen wearing a dark hat and jacket.
