'Big Climb' coming: It's almost time to ascend one of world's tallest skyscrapers for great cause

SEATTLE -- It's almost time to climb one of the world's tallest buildings for a great cause! This year's ‘Big Climb’ at Columbia Center in downtown Seattle is March 22nd. The event benefits The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Hundreds of people will race up the 69 flights of stairs to raise money. The Columbia Center is the tallest skyscraper in Washington state and the second tallest on the West Coast. Members of the ATF and Seattle police will be a big part of the climb that’s captured their hearts. “All through the stairwells, they put pictures of cancer survivors and patients who haven`t survived their cancer, and so there`s a constant reminder of why you`re doing what you`re doing,” says Tana Langue-Yarnell with the ATF. Cheryl Bishop with the ATF adds, “The scourge of cancer doesn`t have any parameters. It doesn`t discriminate because of age, it doesn`t discriminate by gender, or race or politics, and when you see the depth of people infected within the community, we`re law enforcement and people forget that law enforcement really is part of the community.” Again, the 29th annual 'Big Climb' takes place on Sunday, March 22nd at the Columbia Center in downtown Seattle. The event hopes to raise more than $2.6 million. CLICK HERE if you would like to donate to the ATF’s team or to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society
