Seattle police alarmed by multiple heroin overdose reports in one day

SEATTLE (AP) — Alarmed by the number of heroin overdoses they're seeing, Seattle police are reminding the public about a Washington state law designed to curb overdose deaths.

Detective Drew Fowler said Monday on the police website that the so-called "Good Samaritan Law" offers legal protection against drug possession charges to those who call 911 to report an overdose.

Fowler says police and Seattle Fire Department medics received at least six reports of heroin overdoses as of 4 p.m. Monday.
