Seattle man who had arsenal in apartment sentenced to prison

SEATTLE (AP) — A Seattle man caught selling high-powered firearms and heroin from his basement apartment will spend the next six years in prison.

When Jorge Carlos Camps was arrested in May, officials seized a dozen weapons, including a machine gun and silencer. His Magnolia neighborhood apartment was just a few blocks from a busy playground in a neighborhood park.

The 34-year-old Camps pleaded guilty in November and was sentenced Friday in federal court.

Prosecutors say besides selling heroin, Camps sold assault rifles, tactical ballistic body armor and military grade ammunition.

Acting U.S. Attorney Annette Hayes says Camps was playing Russian Roulette with public safety by putting firearms into the hands of anyone who would pay.

Prosecutors say a second defendant in the case, Roger Lee Hiddleston, also was sentenced to six years in prison for selling heroin to Camps.
