TACOMA — A 30-year-old high school biology teacher is charged with having sex with a 16-year-old student, allegedly often taking the student to his girlfriend’s house while she was at work.

Christopher Andrew McKay, 30, is charged with four counts of sexual misconduct for allegedly having sex with a student at Washington High School in Parkland.

According to court documents, the student came forward to police on Jan. 30, alleging she had sex with McKay two or three times a month since April, 2014. McKay, the alleged victim’s 10th grade biology teacher, befriended the girl when she was in the 11th grade, when she would come to school early and study in his classroom. The victim told police the two began to communicate via text in March.

In mid-April, the victim told police, she and McKay went on a walk at Sunnyside Beach and later had sex in his car. The two then met often at McKay’s girlfriend house, court documents allege. McKay’s girlfriend even once walked in on the pair at her home, court documents allege, and McKay claimed the girl’s mother was undergoing cancer treatment and he was there to give the girl emotional support.

The victim told police McKay tried to end the relationship gradually, saying he knew it was wrong. The relationship grew so intense, the victim told police, that she began cutting herself and having suicidal intentions.

The victim told police in late January she had a panic attack and encouraged McKay to stay home from school. He refused, documents show, and the victim later received a call from a man claiming to be McKay’s lawyer, saying that she needed to leave McKay’s house immediately. McKay and the victim allegedly communicated only a few times after the call.

McKay was arraigned Wednesday and released on personal recognizance.

What can be done, the teachers don’t even have to care about anything anymore either, until salesman time running with levy signs crying about the poor kids need more money dumped into brick and mortar.

What is it with teachers today? You’d think with so many of them being “outed” by the very students they are having an affair with that they would learn these students cannot keep quiet about what they are doing, that they will go bragging to others, and they’d stop having these affairs. But Noooooooooooo! They keep right on having the affairs. Somebody needs to teach the teachers.

Totally agree Georgie. A class or two in professional teacher conduct with their students ought to be required every year or two, to refresh their memories if nothing else. Not all teachers are bad, its just the ones that engage in immoral behavior with their students that ruin it for the others. The ‘bad apples’ ought to be tossed in prison for a long time. And when they get out they should never be allowed to teach again, not to mention being required to sign up as sex offenders for life.

Let’s be clear here, Mckay was in the wrong for even giving her moral support and taking him to her house, but, the girl is obviously just upset from him saying no, and its a he said she said, we dont know if she is just trying to twist things around on him to make him look bad or even what truly happened. She is no victim however if she is willing to go with it.

I’m so sick of hearing stories like this. These girls know exactly what they’re doing. My god, have you seen the way 99% of them dress these days? A bunch of little twits with an agenda is all. Enough of everyone acting like these girls are “victims.” They’re snakes, and they utilize their age as a means to get away with various crimes…it’s disgusting. If you’re of sound mind and you’re having sex with an older person, you have NO excuse. Everyone likes to say that oh they’re young, they’re dumb, they don’t know….really? That’s how they F the system, no wonder the parents never have a clue, their kids play them like a fiddle! DUH! Get with it and get a damn clue people! Just b/c they’re young, doesn’t discount them from responsibility via their actions. I don’t feel sorry for the girl, she chose to consistently have sex w/ him and now she’s crying wolf? What a load of BS. Neither side is “right,” but she’s NOT a victim….at all. Rather, she’s clearly a VERY willing participant.

So you are blaming the victim? That is so classy. She is a student. He is a teacher. He is the adult and should know better. This is the reason that victims don’t come forward. Misogynistic behaviour such as yours is why our society has the problems we have.
