Deputies: Young men arrested after neighbors heard smashing, saw flames

SHELTON -- Four young adults were arrested for allegedly lighting a car port and camper on fire early Tuesday morning in Mason County, sheriff's deputies said.

According to the Mason County Sheriff's Office, officers received calls of a fire around 12:45 a.m. in the 100 block of Easy Scenic View Road about 10 miles north of Shelton. Neighbors called police after they heard smashing noises and spotted fire, officials said.

Emergency workers put out the blaze, but one car port, two cars and a camper were completely burned, officials said. It was lucky the blaze didn't spread to adjacent homes.

Deputies called to the scene arrested four young men spotted running from the fire. The four will likely be charged with arson, officers said.

Deputies said the neighbors who reported the fire just moved into the area last week.
