SEATTLE — Police said they arrested a 26-year-old gunman Friday night after one woman was wounded in an exchange of gunfire at a Central District park.

Police said they arrived at Flo Ware Park near 28th Avenue and South Jackson Street shortly after receiving reports of gunfire at about 6 p.m. Friday. Officers found a 29-year-old woman with a gunshot wound to her thigh.

Seattle Fire Department medics transported her to Harborview Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said witnesses told officers the suspect had boarded a Metro bus headed for downtown. Police quickly found the suspect on  a Metro coach and took him into custody. Police recovered two handguns from the man during the arrest.

Gang Unit detectives and Crime Scene investigators have recovered dozens of shell casings at the scene of the shooting, and believed two groups of suspects may have exchanged gunfire.
