Family of man killed by Pasco police files $25 million claim against city
PASCO, Wash. (AP) — The family of a man who was killed this week in a police shooting in southwestern Washington has filed a $25 million claim for damages with the city of Pasco.
The Tri-City Herald reports (http://is.gd/48UFEA ) the claim was filed Friday by his widow and is also on behalf of Antonio Zambrano-Montes' two daughters.
The claim says police used excessive force in violation of state and federal authority.
Zambrano-Montes' widow is Teresa de Jesus Meraz of Atwater, Calif.
Yakima attorney George Paul Trejo Jr. is representing the family, along with Carrazco Law in Tustin, Calif.
A claim is a precursor to a lawsuit. The city has 60 days to respond to the claim.
