1 Seattle tunnel worker remains in hospital after fall Thursday

SEATTLE (AP) — One of the Seattle tunnel workers injured in a fall Thursday remains in a hospital.

Harborview Medical Center spokeswoman Susan Gregg says the 23-year-old is in serious but stable condition Friday in the intensive care unit.

Three others were treated Thursday and released.

They fell about 25 feet when rebar collapsed on a wall at what is planned to be the north end of a 2-mile tunnel to carry Highway 99 traffic under downtown Seattle.

Tunnel drilling has been stopped for more than a year while the contractor tries to repair the stalled boring machine called Bertha.
