13-year-old boy shot over Facebook post, police say

CHICAGO -- A teenage boy was shot and killed, police said, during an alleged confrontation over a Facebook post.

According to WGN, 13-year-old Anthony Dias was shot multiple times just after 10:30 p.m. Sunday in the Belmont Central neighborhood of Chicago.

Diaz’ stepfather, Ralph Otero, says the teen snuck out of the house with his sisters, ages 15 and 17, because they wanted to confront someone about a post on Facebook and wanted Diaz to film it. Otero says five minutes later Diaz was shot.

Police say someone shot him in the side and at least one of the bullets exited through his chest.

No arrests have been made.

Diaz told WGN his son was not involved in gangs, and was a good kid who loved basketball.
