SWEET: Make-A-Wish kids creating Valentine's Day gifts for others in program

LYNNWOOD, Wash. -- Children in Lynnwood made sure the wishes of sick kids all over the region come true.

Children from the Make-A-Wish Foundation program got a chance to wish it forward.

"I like giving things to people," one little girl said.

With the help of the Build-A-Bear Workshop, the children created Valentine's Day gifts for kids in the Make-A-Wish program.

Sarah Haggen, of Make-A-Wish Foundation, said, "It's incredible that we have the 'Wish' kids that are still involved in the mission and saw the power of the wish that they had, and they want to just pay it forward to other kids that are waiting for their own wishes."

Valentine's Day is one of the busiest and most sharing times of the year. But a lot of kids with life-threatening medical conditions usually don't get to participate in Valentine's fun.

This wish-it-forward party gives kids in the program the chance to share in the fun and support other children going through the same challenges they faced.

Crystal Leslie, of the Build-A-Bear Workshop, said, "Honestly, this is the best part of our job, getting to experience the love we create with everybody and share that moment. It's really rewarding and almost even better than making one for yourself is giving it away to someone else."

Once the bears are complete, they will be delivered to children in hospitals throughout Washington and Alaska.

If you want to help, just drop by any Build-A-Bear Workshop store in Washington and donate $1. One-hundred percent of the donations will benefit Make-A-Wish.
