Police stop stolen SUV, allegedly find drugs and stolen mail inside

LYNNWOOD -- Snohomish County Sheriff's deputies spotted a suspected stolen SUV on Interstate 5 around 1 a.m. Thursday, Sheriff's spokesperson Shari Ireton told Q13 FOX News.

Deputies initiated a brief pursuit of the Blazer on southbound Interstate 5 near Alderwood Mall. Deputies used a pit maneuver to stop the SUV near the 196th St SW offramp,Ireton said.

The collision flipped the Blazer on its top, Ireton said. Police and fire department units responded and all lanes of Interstate 5 were blocked.

Police took a man into custody, but released the woman, who was also in the SUV. No one, including deputies, were injured.

Police found suspected drug paraphernalia and stolen mail inside the Blazer, Ireton said.

Deputies had spotted the same Blazer driving on I-5 on Tuesday afternoon, but were unable to stop it, Ireton said. WSDOT had reopened all southbound lanes of I-5 by 3:45 a.m. Wednesday.
