Seattle Police believe that they were able to stop a shooting before it happened early Saturday after arresting two armed men in Belltown.

SPD spokesperson Det. Mark Jamieson said that officers were on 1st, north of Blanchard, just after 2 a.m. when they spotted what looked to be a building disturbance. Soon after, people started running from the scene, and one told the officers that a man in the crowd was seen with a gun.

Soon they saw a man holding a gun in his hand lying on the ground. Jamieson said that the man tried to hide the gun in his waistband, but by then officers had already gotten to him. Nearby, the man’s brother was spotted within a crowd, also with a gun in his waistband. Both were arrested without incident, Jamieson said. No shots were fired during the disturbance.

The brothers, both in their 20s, were taken to the King County Jail. One was released after talking with investigators, while the other was booked on felony gun charges and numerous warrants.
