Security tightened in Phoenix area in advance of Sunday's Super Bowl

PHOENIX -- U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson said Wednesday security was being increased in the Phoenix area and at the site of the Super Bowl Sunday to ensure the safety of the thousands of people who will be attending the game and events.

Homeland Security has teamed with the NFL to buy commercials, post ads and billboards telling people, "If you see something, say something."

Federal agents have been on the ground in the desert, training local police and local hotel staff to identify potential terrorism risks.

The TSA has also sent additional officers to the airport in Phoenix to look for anything suspicious.

Johnson said he knows "see something ... say something" message is nothing new, but added that he feels it needs to be repeated.

All 3,000 members of the Phoenix Police Department are going to be working this week, and other state, county and local law enforcement crews will be patrolling as well.
