Tuesday at Media Day in Arizona that single phrase may have saved him from a half-a-million-dollar fine reportedly threatened by the NFL.

The phrase?

“I’m here so I won’t get fined,” said Lynch.

“I’m just here so I won’t get fined,” he repeated when asked a second question.

“I’m just here so I won’t get fined.”

Lynch and the NFL had been at odds over his refusal to speak with reporters last season and even earlier this the season.

He was fined $100,000 by the league for refusing  two mandatory media appearances.

ESPN is citing sources within the NFL that Lynch was threatened with a $500,000 fine if he failed to be available at Media Day.

There are so many things that really need fines, and suspensions, leave our BEAST alone!!! Find out who let the air out of the footballs, fine that bastard who took the cheap shot on Russell during GB game. But leave Marshawn alone!!!!

I’m waiting for an aspiring rapper to use these quotes and make it into a single called “Beast Mode”, lol…it’ll happen. GO HAWKS!!

  • first and ted

So the pats go lock-step with all of players saying “We are only focused on Seahawks” over and over again, instead of a yes or no answer, but Marshawn is out of line when he repeats…..
I think Sherman will be proven right,… the NFL will do nothing.

What an arrogant prick. Probably cannot put a sentence together and is worried about sounding stupid. Seahawks will lose and he will fade away.

U R wrong. The media has always been the wrong people to talk to. He knows it. U shouldnt call people names. It makes U look immature, like a kindergartener or something.

I am getting so tired of hawks fans saying he is being bullied. It’s part of his friggin job. This is his job. It only seems he is being bullied, because every other player is grown up enough to do the interviews, so the NFL doesn’t have to say anything to them. They are told this from day one. You think a player enjoys having to do an interview after a loss? Think Romo likes interviews after throwing 6 picks? No, but they enjoy getting paid millions of dollars to play a game they love, so they endure it. So do Seattle residents feel that a bus driver is bullied if they are told they can’t drive their friends around for free, or is it bullying for a bar to tell the bar tenders not to give free drinks to friends? No, it’s their job, just like this moron’s job is to play football, and abide by all rules.

The fines don’t mean anything to this idiot, so he will continue to act like a child throwing a tantrum. The NFL needs to enforce a harder rule. If you skip your press conference, you don’t play next week. That will get this moron’s attention.

I cannot believe that not a single reporter has the nerve to say: Hey Marshawn you are boring, unprofessional and a jerk get lost, we don’t want or need to hear YOUR opinion. Or better yet ALL reporters join in and agree to not say a single word to this jerk when he comes up to the mike!
