WENATCHEE, Wash. — A 17-year-old boy from Chelan was fatally injured Friday in a skiing accident at the Mission Ridge Ski area south of Wenatchee, Chelan County Sheriff Brian Burnett said.

The first call came in at about 1:30 p.m. Friday and Lifeline Ambulance the sheriff’s office responded, Burnett said in a news release.

The skier’s friend said the 17-year-old lost control on a ski run, went over an embankment and landed among some trees, Burnett said.

Mission Ridge Ski patrol rendered aid to the victim, who was then transported to Central Washington Hospital where he later died from his injuries, Burnett said.

The victim’s name was being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
