EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) — An Indiana couple faces charges after investigators say they found cellphone videos showing the woman’s 12-month-old daughter putting a handgun in her mouth.

Evansville police discovered the videos after a 19-year-old man was arrested for trying to sell a handgun to an undercover officer.

Police say the man and the girl’s 22-year-old mother can be heard encouraging the toddler to say “pow” and that no one tried to stop her as she put the gun in her mouth.

Police say the mother told officers the girl was holding a pellet gun; investigators say it was a .40-caliber handgun. They say the gun’s magazine appeared to be removed but it’s not clear if ammunition was in the chamber.

Both adults face charges including child neglect and recklessness with a deadly weapon.

WARNING:  This video, released by police, is very disturbing.

Some people shouldn’t have children because they are young idiots and not smart enough for parenting. The child should be removed from this couple.

As is always the case, we see the problem is not the gun but the stupid gun owner. And stupid gun owners are allowed to own guns. THAT is the problem.

This is pure media sensationalism, another assault on our second amendment rights. There is nothing wrong with giving a child an unloaded gun to play with.

Are you kidding?? Nothing wrong with a 1 yr old playing with a real gun just because its unloaded. How is she going to tell if its loaded or not the next time?? A child should never be given a gun to play with. What a moronic opinion!! As a person who firmly believes in the right to bare arms I would never allow a child to play with a gun. Guns are not toys. A child at that age don’t know real from fake or loaded from unloaded. These are perfect examples to the reasons why laws have to be put in place to protect stupid people from doing stupid shit and harming the innocent.
