Oregon man charged with assaulting his 7-week-old baby

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Oregon State Police detectives have arrested a Grants Pass man accused of injuring his 7-week-old baby.

Lt. Josh Brooks says 27-year-old Kevin "Tony" McCage was arrested in Portland and later booked into the Josephine County Jail on charges of assault and criminal mistreatment.

The investigation began Friday after police were notified that a critically injured baby was transferred from a Southern Oregon hospital to Doernbecher Children's Hospital in Portland.

Detectives interviewed McCage at the hospital and took him into custody.

Brooks says the infant was still at the Portland hospital Monday.
