CLEVELAND — Police have released 30 minutes of additional surveillance video in the shooting death of 12-year-old Tamir Rice, FOX 8 News said.

Cleveland police were called to Cuddell Recreation Center on Nov. 22 with reports of a boy waiving a gun around. Rice was spotted by police and told to put his hands up when he allegedly reached for his waistband for what appeared to be a gun. Police opened fire, killing the boy.

The gun Rice had in his waistband was later found to be an air-soft pistol.

The extended video shows Rice’s sister running up to the boy moments after he was shot. The girl was quickly forced away from the scene and restrained, FOX 8 reports.

Tim Loehmann, the officer who fired the shots, remains on restricted duty while the matter is under investigation.

The city previously released a clip of video that showed only the actual shooting and Tamir’s actions leading up to the shooting.

In light of the new surveillance video, Fox 8 spoke to the attorney of the Rice family. Attorney Walter Madison called the treatment of Tamir and his sister “shocking and outrageous.”

The city of Cleveland released the following statement with the new video:

“After consultation with the legal department and Cleveland police, the city of Cleveland is making available an extended view of the Cudell Recreation Center video.”

Regarding the treatment of Rice’s Sister, Steve Loomis, the President of the local police union, said it was a crime scene, and while she was upset, officers had to control the situation.

Walter Madison, attorney for Rice’s family, released the following statement:

“The extended version of the Tamir Rice shooting video released this morning by the Cleveland Police Department fully supports the initial account provided by the Rice family.

“This video shows in crystal-clear HD that the responding officers acted inappropriately and recklessly, both in how they handled the shooting of 12-year-old Tamir Rice and the events that immediately followed.

“The family is outraged that rather than comfort a sister coming to the aid of her dying brother, the officers instead manhandled and tackled her, cuffed her and thoughtlessly tossed her in the back of a patrol car.

“It is painfully obvious that these Cleveland Police Department officers lacked even the most basic elements of training.”

And they will face no punishment for their wrong doing!! They will be found not guilty and this will be swept under the rug!! Like everything else the police do wrong!! They are payed bullies and are not held accountable for when they do wrong! They only enforce laws against citizens not against cops..their own!!

How are the officers wrong? Is it because they received a call from a concerned citizen, and responded to a possible subject with a gun situation? So should the cops wait till the person fires the gun, and then open fire?

You should try that logic the next time you find yourself in a situation that may need a police officer and not call them.

There is a reason why we have a judicial system, and not a court of public opinion.

Watch the video and you’ll clearly see that this kid threatened multiple strangers with his realistic looking toy gun. Apparently we’re supposed to feel sorry that the sister who was supervising him doing this got tackled and handcuffed?
Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

Who was teaching this boy respect for the law? What kind of world do we live in that a 12 year old has the balls to go against the police. Sure it was a toy….but how exactly were the officers supposed to know? Were they supposed to wait until he shot one of them?

The ‘people’ still trying to defend these animals is sickening. They all need to be caged where they belong. It is long past due that these dark areas aren’t flushed like the big toilets they are.

First off this 12 yr. Old obviously had a condition. Some people are born with autism or brain disorders like a genesis of the corpus callum which means that there response can be either slow or different. The KKK cops and everyone defending them should be trained how to deal with different types of people especially children. My heart bleeds. That’s OK for there is a higher court making final decisions for all one day.
