New Year's Eve party ends in gunfire, two men killed



RENTON -- King County sheriff's detectives are investigating a deadly shooting at a New Year's Eve party in Renton.

Sheriff's spokesperson Sgt. D.B. Gates said that three people were shot at a home in the 11500 block of 161st Avenue Southeast around 3:30 a.m. Thursday.

Two men were killed. A third person was treated at a hospital and released.

Gates said a homeowner was hosting a party with all young adults and started sending people home just after 3 a.m. Then some of the people who were being told to leave pulled out their guns and began shooting.

Gates said the homeowners returned fire in the a shootout, and police are looking for one shooter.

Around 20 to 25 people were at the home when the gunfire began and detectives are conducting interviews to determine what happened.
