34-year-old man hit by vehicle in Renton dies of his injuries

RENTON -- A 34-year-old man who was struck by a vehicle while he was walking across the 300 block of Rainier Avenue South on New Year's Eve died of his injuries Thursday, officials said.

Police said the man was crossing the road outside of the nearby crosswalk when he was struck by a vehicle turning from SW Sunset Boulevard onto southbound Rainier Avenue South. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with officers, police said.

The pedestrian was rushed to Harborview Medical Center, but died of his injuries on at about 12:30 p.m. Thursday, police said.

He was not identified.
