Edmonton Police: 9 found dead, including 2 young children, in 'senseless mass murder'

EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) — A Canadian law enforcement official says nine deaths at three crime scenes are connected in what's being called the worst mass murder in Edmonton.

Police Chief Ron Knecht at a news conference Tuesday called the killings a "senseless mass murder" and said they were the result of a domestic dispute. The victims included a woman found last night by officers who were responding to a weapons complaint at a south Edmonton home.

The bodies of three more women, two men, a boy and a girl were discovered a few hours later in the northeast part of the city where officers had checked on reports of a depressed, suicidal male earlier in the evening.

A man matching the description of the suicidal male was found dead in a restaurant in suburban Fort Saskatchewan today.

Police are not yet commenting on the specific connection between the deaths
