Olympic Park expands search for missing hiker
PORT ANGELES, Wash. (AP) — Teams in Olympic National Park have expanded their search for a missing 60-year-old hiker.
Park spokeswoman Jacilee Wray says nearly two dozen people on Saturday finished a grid search around the area where Jim Griffin’s pack was found.
On Sunday, seven searchers are going further out from the trail near creeks and down steep slopes. Wray says searchers are looking in places where Griffin may have ended up if he got confused or lost during his hike.
Griffin hasn’t been seen since he went for a hike Monday on the Olympic Hot Springs Trail. His friends reported him missing Wednesday night after he failed to show up at a Christmas Eve dinner.
